i decorated: the nursery, in review

been busy with travel for work, but as promised here’s the back story on the nursery. everything was basically sourced from my go-to’s: home goods, target, ikea, and joann’s fabric. story-time nook: they had the chair and to save money we dressed it up with two graphic pillows from target the garden stool – a […]

we decorated: “baby love”, a not so baby…baby shower, part 1

i’ve been trying to figure out how to start this post for days – there is so much to ‘show and tell’.

let’s start at the beginning – the post is titled “we” instead of  ”i” (for once) because without my gal pals – this stylish baby celebration would have never, ever come to be!

one of our dear friends is obviously with child – but we don’t know what kind. like many couples, they are waiting until the big day to find out if their home will soon be overrun with pink or blue color schemes. so, the idea of “baby love” was born (well, isn’t that punny). it fell on val day weekend too!

before i share the fabulousness that was the shower- i’ll give you a peak behind the curtain to see how it all came together. lot’s of crafting – we ball on a budget at the unicorn stylings casa.

wrapped with love yarn wreath- super simple: green styrofoam wreath from jo-ann fabrics wrapped in assorted yarn and ribbon.

wrapped with love utensils, couldn’t be easier: take cocktail napkins, wrap, and tie with cute ribbon. i found these kate spade napkins at tj maxx!

onesie bunting, easy as tracing: pick out several card stock options, we went with complimentary colors and patterns. then create one or two master onesies to trace with. a friend from work gave us a smaller and larger one.

pom and lantern wrapped chandelier, takes some effort: the lanterns are martha stewart from jo-ann fabrics, and the poms my gal pal made. you simply take tissue paper and fold it accordion style. then fasten it all together with floral wire, and scallop the edges. next poof it. there are tons of instruction online and on pinterest.

i hung everything with twine until i had a full bunch.

chevron flags, letters + gold, and signs – easy: the chevron paper and flags are from paper source…i may use them at my wedding! the letters are from jo-ann fabrics. of course, i had to use spray paint. here are more directions from last time!

diaper cake, easy: this takes some time, some diapers, and some rubber bands. we just rolled the diapers, rubber-banding each; and then, rubber-banding them in groups until we have varied sizes we could stack. next we wrapped each layer with ribbon to cover the rubber bands. here’s more instructions on pinterest.

baby love water, super easy: ok, the way i did this was so unprofessional, but it worked. i located a pic of our paper on the paper source site, copied it into power point 4 times and stretched it until i knew it would fit the bottles, and then printed on card stock. next my gal pal used packing tape and affixed the labels by just pressing the label face down on the tape (leaving room on the sides) and then wrapping around the bottles. lots of instructions online and on pinterest (here).

trust me there was madness – dogs running around in hoodies + stuff and people everywhere
